Cold Comfort Bridgette Cash Mystery Thriller Trevor Douglas Books
I downloaded this book from Amazon. It didn’t cost me anything, but I still feel cheated because of the hours I spent reading the book expecting a conclusion to both plots. It didn’t happen. I'll have to buy another book to learn the ending of a plot in this one. No thanks. Fool me once, shame on him; fool me twice, shame on me.The main plot involves a rookie cop with a Mensa IQ discovering information about a serial killer, based on what she recently learned in cop school, that twenty-year cops haven’t thought about. The plot eventually comes to a conclusion after several pages of “skim over” paragraphs of superfluous information. Even with plot situations that stretch reality, I enjoyed the book, right up to the last chapter when I discovered that I was going to have to buy another book for closure to a second plot.
The author also spends much of the book on a second plot line. Bridgette has a personal agenda involving her mother’s murder. Even though a related murder occurs and she gets shot as well, the author offers no hint of resolution to any of the crimes in this book. .
Bridgette is fine. Really fine. In any situation, she is fine. Under any circumstances, she is fine. After she says she is fine a dozen times or so, you get the idea that she really is fine.
However, she walks into a dead-end alley, sees her injured partner on the ground in pain and the bad guy with a steel bar raised above his head ready to hit her partner again. Instead of shooting the bad guy, she voluntarily puts her gun down and kicks it away. Unarmed, she then invites the man to pass by her in the narrow alley while he’s still holding the steel bar. The police chief should have fired her for voluntarily disarming herself in a dangerous situation. At the very least, her partner should have refused to have anything to do with her afterwards.

Cold Comfort Bridgette Cash Mystery Thriller Trevor Douglas Books Reviews
I enjoyed reading the book and the characters were original and believable. Bridgette 's backstory gave us insight as to her character and drive. This book was well written. I did wonder if the program or whatever is used to download to e-books,
had a grammar problem? Some words used were not commonly "spelt" that way. The word choice I would have used would be "spelled". Anyway, I truly did like the book, the characters and certainly the author.
Bridgette goes through rigorous physical, physiological and intellectual assessments before being partnered with Investigator Lance Hoffman, a crusty old guy, liked by few. Bridgette has three months to prove herself and it will be anything but easy. Asst. Commissioner Leo Cunningham is out to get everyone Bridgette works with, especially her. Monica Travers is found murdered and Bridgette is a bulldog at searching clues. .....along with hunting for the killer of Monica, Bridgette is dealing with a personal tragedy of her own.......great read......a real thriller.
This book is my first for this author but not the last. It keeps your attention glued to the next chapter and I'd hard to put down. A rookie cop, a seasoned detective, and a killer who as of yet leaves no clues as to how he convinces women to meet him. Bridgette is also working on a case that is a little closer to home. Her mother was murdered when she was seven and her father was blamed. He is either dead or still in hiding because she hasn't seen him in twenty years. The plot and the intrigue is enough to keep you guessing.
I enjoyed ready the murder mystery about Bridgette, who is a rookie detective in San Francisco, trying to catch a serial killer, whom she determined as such. She has a I.Q. of 151 and is very determined to succeed in her chosen career despite her previous circumstances with the Navy and personal life. Even though the characters are American, the author is from Australia, he uses the 'Queen's' english throughout the book. I feel if he's writing about U. S. American's, he should use our terminology.
A well thought out and interesting story. All the characters are so important to the plot. Bridget is a smart, well informed, gutsy detective. Catching a serial killer and also looking into her Mother's murder causes her problems. There are twists that keep you turning pages to see what happens.
Truly enjoyed this book.
First of all, I rarely give a 5 star to any book, so a 4 start is pretty high praise from me. I really enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down towards the end! I am looking forward to the next Bridgette Cash mystery. There is one small thing, though, that I can't figure out this book seems to be set in the USA somewhere (or am I wrong?), but there are quite a few British terms that made me wonder lift instead of elevator, hiring company (I might have this wrong) instead of rental company, etc. It doesn't really affect the storyline but it is a bit odd.
I received this book for no charge in exchange for my review.
This is the first book I have read by Trevor Douglas. It has many twists and turns and is really hard to put down...."because you gotta know what comes next". Plenty of suspense and curiosity and had me guessing who the "bad guy" really was....I was wrong. Does make one wonder about how people become killers and crazies! Bridgette Cash is one determined woman and sticks to her plan--good bad or indifferent. She and Lance Hoffman, her partner until he retires in three months get along but he is a crotchety old man who thinks Bridgette is just a "know nothing newbie who thinks she can capture a killer on computer information alone". He is old school, she is new age so you can imagine the battles between them.
I will read more of Trevor Douglas' books.
